Two Fish Go To Sea/Abstraction:
This is a strong, moody work with overtones of Albert Pinkham Ryder and Adolf Gottlieb in the background.  The rough-hewn scumbled quality of the fish on a light ground, contrasting with the bold dark brush strokes of the background, creates a dynamic tension, perfectly balanced by the Gottliebian red sun spot in the lower right hand side.   Ross Lance Mitchell
